Gyokuro

This premium shaded tea from Sugimoto Tea is a perfect example of the results of excellence in tea farming. Shaded for 20 days before harvest, the sun-starved tea plants turn their chlorophyl production into overdrive, creating a rich and savory green liquor that only gyokuro can deliver. This blend of yabukita and saemidori cultivars is grown in Yame, Fukuoka, Japan and shaded using traditional straw tarps as opposed to the black plastic ones that are common in modern farming.
